The majority of delegates at the Social Enterprise Norfolk meeting “Changing Lives Locally”, believe the governments “Big Society” is already here.
The event, held at the new Pennoyer Centre in South Norfolk, saw social enterprises working across the county presenting on a range of topics from helping older people, disadvantaged women and supporting people with mental health problems and about how they are making huge differences to the lives of local people across Norfolk.
The meeting brought together social enterprises, community groups and businesses to explore opportunities for collaboration and inter trading and helped to identify the huge amount of work that is already meeting the “Big Society” agenda .
After listening to speakers and networking, a straw poll revealed 94% of delegates thought Norfolk was already doing the “Big Society”.
Comments from delegates included “it was an excellent for me. Being with people of like minds, who had vision and who were passionate about changing and empowering their local communities to improve the lives of us all; which is what the Big Society is all about”.
Opportunities to Collaborate
Two thirds of enterprises made valuable new contacts and met potential new partners for future collaboration. Below are photos of the day kindly taken by Keith Osborn Photography who supported the event.
